Medical Eye Care in Carson City, NV

Most eye problems don’t start with obvious symptoms. They develop slowly, and by the time something feels off, the change has already happened. Your eye exam can help detect subtle changes early. This lets us base care decisions on measurable findings, not only your daily symptoms.

Medical Vision Care & Disease Management

Dr. Seljestad has spent over 20 years managing conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. This care model focuses on progress. We track minor changes closely. We adjust treatment when needed.

Advanced imaging helps us see deeper parts of your eye. It includes OCT scans and visual field tests. These tests also help us track changes in your eye health.

Insurance & Payment Options

Eye care isn’t always straightforward when it comes to coverage. Some visits fall under medical insurance, others under vision plans, and the difference isn’t always obvious.

Our team will review your benefits with you.

Glaucoma Management

Glaucoma is often detected before you notice anything. There’s no pain, no early warning signs; just gradual change.

Dr. Seljestad is part of 5% of optometrists in Nevada credentialed to treat glaucoma. That means your care goes beyond screening. Your eye pressure, optic nerve, and visual field are tracked over time. We adjust treatment based on how your condition progresses.

This is ongoing management, not a one-time check. The goal is to slow change as much as possible and keep your vision functional for the long term.

Specialty Contact Lenses (Scleral Lenses)

Not everyone can wear standard contact lenses. Some eyes don’t tolerate them, and some conditions make them ineffective.

Scleral lenses rest on the white part of the eye, not the cornea, and create a fluid layer that can improve your comfort and vision while wearing contacts.

They are often used for keratoconus, severe dry eye, and irregular corneas, especially in patients who have already tried other options without success. Fitting them takes time and precision, but when they work, they can change how someone functions day to day.
